BAFTA Winning
One of the very first creative hirings we made at Beattie McGuinness Bungay was a quiet, unassuming fella by the name of Duncan Jones. Duncan was a one-man ideas factory. Within weeks of joining us, he was writing and directing TV commercials and developing websites for French Connection, Heinz and Carling. As well as scripting movie screenplays in his limited spare time.
One such screenplay was the extraordinary tale of Sam Bell, isolated 250,000 miles from home on a mining site on the dark side of the moon. We'd always sensed that Hollywood would lure the Boy Jones away from us at some stage and were proud to co-fund and produce the project, which in 2009 did just that.
Duncan's big screen directorial debut "Moon" was an instant triumph, from Sundance to The BAFTAs, where he collected the trophy for Best New Director.
Its success did not go unnoticed in Hollywood, and actor Jake Gyllenhaal soon recruited Duncan to direct the epic sci-fi thriller "Source Code". With his next movie still in gestation, Duncan is returning to the Beattie McGuinness Bungay fold this year to direct the biggest project the agency has ever embarked upon.
